Duas to repent and turn over a new leaf

Question:

I have made some very big mistakes in my life. Boyfriends and promising people promises that I couldn’t keep, and I feel really very bad about them. I want to start over with my life be a better Muslimah better person inside out understand the Quran and live by the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Mohammad PBUH. But I don’t know why, I feel I am failing. They say you should have a good friend who is closer to Allah and has genuine knowledge about Islam, but I don’t have any. The environment around me doesn’t allow me. What do I do ? Please advice some good duas.

Assalamu Alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

Thank you for your question.

May Allāh bless you for your positive goals and make them a reality.

You are on the right track by making a firm resolution to improve your life by abandoning everything negative and sinful. We suggest you remain positive. Surround yourself with righteous positive people. Enroll in Islamic educational classes in person in your locality or even online.

If you find yourself in an environment that is not conducive to your goals, the best thing to do is either create the positive environment or leave the negative environment and adopt a good righteous environment.

Qur’anic supplications are best. Recite Quran daily and strive to understand and practice its injunctions.

One such supplication is “O my Lord, make me enter a rightful entrance and make me exit a rightful exit, and grant me from Your Own a power, favoured (by You).” (Qurʾān 17:80)

And Allah knows best.
