Where did Adam (AS) and Hawa (AS) Reside?

Answered by Shaykh Omar Subedar

Question:

As Salaamu ‘Alaikum,

Did Adam and Hawwa (‘alayhimus salaam) initially live in Paradise before being sent to this world? Or did they live in a garden that resembled Paradise?

JazakAllah Khair

Answer:

It is quite evident from the following Qur’änic verses that our ancestral parents, Adam and Hawwa عليهما السلام used to reside in Paradise and not in any another place that resembled it;

And We said, “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat there from in [ease and] abundance from wherever you will. But do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers.”

But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, “Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time.”
[2:35-36]

And Allah Knows Best.
